Interview with Tim Walker on Collective Intelligence
In this interview, Tim and Maggie discuss collective intelligence, systemic work and the challenges and opportunities of working with and within cultural institutions.
Tim Walker is an Auckland-based strategic arts and culture consultant.
He was previously in the art gallery and museum for three decades – at the Waikato Museum of Art and History, National Art Gallery and Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand, Dowse Art Museum and Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland Museum.
Tim focuses on developing values-based and value-generating initiatives and approaches. He works with arts organisations, artists, communities, museums and art galleries, councils, government departments, and other agencies. He also regularly works with iwi and hapu Māori.
Tim has been on the Te Kura Toi Whakaari NZ Drama School board for ten years, serving as chair for the past eight years. He has an MA (Hons) in Art History from the University of Auckland. The Wellington Institute of Technology awarded him an honorary Degree in Creative Technologies for his work at The Dowse.
