Our latest AI intervention, ‘AI & Creatives’, took place at Hastings Art Gallery on 20 February 2026.
The 2-hour interactive seminar covered the AI landscape, how it can be used (including emerging creative tools and processes), and also critically examined the areas of the AI revolution that are not supportive of AI practice.
As with all our sessions, the goal was to raise critical awareness, not to push or discourage AI use. It was an intense, interactive, and engaging morning, and we were left with the impression that creativity is alive and well in Hastings and that people think hard about their practice and the nature of creativity in today’s complex world.
Thanks to Elham (Education Manager) and the staff at the Gallery for their hospitality and kindness to us as we inducted them into our Strange Intelligences Project.

The AI seminar at Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga Hastings Art Gallery was incredibly valuable, well presented, and packed with useful information. Our audience was fully engaged and keen to learn more, some even said it felt intense because there was so much to take in, but in the best possible way. With AI changing so quickly, we really appreciated Awhiworld making sure everyone could follow along, no matter their starting point. Maggie and Kim were fantastic hosts. They made a complex and sometimes intimidating topic feel approachable, kept everyone comfortable and engaged, and held the room for the full two hours with ease. AI can feel daunting for many creatives, but their honest, practical approach encouraged learning and critical thinking rather than fear. The seminar was firmly grounded in creative practice and ethics, framing AI as a tool for thinking, experimenting, and expanding process and not replacing creativity.
Working with Maggie and Kim was also a pleasure, the communication and organisation were smooth, professional, and easy from start to finish. We loved the experience and 100% recommend them to any creative audience.
