Dargaville Wearable Arts 2023
AwhiWorld VJ’d down the rabbit hole for Dargaville Wearable Arts 2023. After delays due to COVID and Cyclone Gabrielle, the event took place 1st and 2nd of September at Dargaville Rugy Grounds.
The original venue was decommissioned due to rain damage in the Cyclone Gabrielle, so a marquee was used instead.
DWA is an homage to community creativity with twenty two different entrants competing for prizes for best wearable art and costume.
Production crew included Terri Donaldson (Creative Director), Bell Tech/Tim Bell (AV infrastructure and lighting), Brian Baker (Music/Performance).
Event Manager/Production Manager was John Pickworth
All AwhiWorld content was created specifically for the event and included images of local flora, watercolour and pen and ink sketches and generative visuals.
Animations from original Lewis Carroll texts added Easter Eggs for the audience to find during the show.
All visuals were performed live on the night – so each evenings show was unique to that audience.
