Creative Technology Capacity Building

AwhiWorld is proud to be supported by Creative Northland to run community-based labs and workshops in creative technology around Te Tai Tokerau in the summer of 2022.

Showcasing various technologies (3D scanning, printing and projection; vinyl cutting; augmented reality; Arduino; & Vjing), the workshops and pop-ups are designed to support creatives to expand their practice and imagine new possibilities in their communities.

The pop-up labs are set up to be informal opportunities to see technologies demonstrated first-hand. They also allow creatives to have individual coaching and support with their ideas and youth to have their questions answered on career opportunities.

A specialist workshop complemented the labs, providing skill training in VJing and Projection Mapping for those already familiar with digital technologies.

“The workshops and labs are part of a larger outreach programme AwhiWorld has been supporting for several years. We are grateful to be part of Creative Northland’s Impact Programme which is designed to build capacity in Creative Technology around Te Tai Tokerau.”

Events took place in Rawene (12 and 19th November), Taipa (21st November) and Dargaville (24th November) in collaboration with local arts groups and schools in those areas.

The workshops are part of a long-term strategic partnership with Creative Northland to build capacity in Te Tai Tokerau.

Workshops have taken place in 2019 and 2021 across Kaipara, Whangarei and Mid-North. Our 2022 workshops will now extend our reach to Far North and Hokianga.
